How would you erect a barrier to protect your company's market?

I wouldn't use this sentence in the subjunctive mood. In practice, for several years I have been creating conditions for protecting the market of my company's services.

In order to remain low cost of rail freight transportation at extended territory of Russia, we fought for such legislative conditions under which the functions of the infrastructure owner and cargo carrier were preserved in a single company - Russian Railways. What's more we tried to maintain the same tariff conditions for different shippers, even located in remote corners of our country.

In this way, the model of Russian railways functioning differs significantly from the European one. Taking into account that freight rail transportation plays the role of the circulatory system of the Russian economy, thanks to this model we managed to maintain and increase the share of rail transport at the Russian transport market. As a result, russian railways have one of the lowest freight rates in the world and retained most of their customers.

Why does retention trump talent acquisition?

There are not so many talented people on earth. However all basic goods and services are produced by ordinary people. Of course, talents can come up with something new, unusual and attractive.

Taking into account that just competent employees should ensure stable production, communication with people and partners, it is very important to build a close-knit, competent and friendly team for the stable functioning of the company. Therefore creating and retaining a good team is the art of management. As a result, the one who succeeded makes a significant contribution to the capitalization of the business.

What is important is that in a good environment many people can unveil their hidden talents that were not previously noticeable to others.
